Dinosaur Ridge is the #1 dinosaur track site in the country, according to paleontologists. In addition to hundreds of tracks from multiple species, Jurassic fossil bones are visible and touchable. Stegosaurus and other dinosaurs were named based on the discoveries made here in 1877-1879.

Dinosaur Ridge (as part of Jefferson County Open Space) is open daily. Daily tours, exhibits, and a gift shop are available at the Visitor Center (16831 West Alameda Parkway, Morrison, CO) and additional exhibits and gifts are available at the Discovery Center (17681 West Alameda Parkway, Golden, CO).

You can walk 1.1 miles (one way) across the Ridge along a paved road from which through traffic has been restricted and you will see many informational signs to explain the significance of the geologic strata that go back 150 million years. Guided bus tours take 45 minutes and stop at three of the major points of interest. Special events and programs are listed on the website.
